Idea of salvation
In Christianity, this life is a preparation for an eternal after life. You be a good fellow of God, you will get a plot in Heaven, you do bad things, you will be thrown into hell, and both will be for eternity as they say. But what does Buddhism say about salvation?
Buddhism denies the idea of eternal happiness in Heaven or eternal suffering in Hell. In Brahma Net discourse, Buddha considered it as one of the 62 wrong views that lead to nothing. The beings will have to take birth in this world and other worlds beyond our perception again and again until we engage ourselves to get rid of this cycle. Whenever we will be able to extinguish our greed, hatred and ignorance through meditation, only then we will know by ourselves that we are free. No more birth we will take, so no more pain we will have. This is the ultimate salvation that is called Nibbana in Buddhism.
